How to use the food sensor with your Electrolux SensePro® hob

Cooking with sous vide on the Electrolux SensePro induction hob

The Electrolux SensePro® hob with wireless food sensor guides you through your cooking with a variety of settings and functions. Suitable for different foods and dishes. 

Using the food sensor for the first time

Before you use the food sensor for the first time, you need to calibrate it to ensure accurate temperature readings. Follow these instructions to calibrate your SensePro® food sensor.

Inserting the food sensor into food 

Insert the food sensor into the food to at least the minimum level mark. For liquids, immerse the food sensor into the liquid 2-5 cm above the minimum level mark to get the best cooking results.

Placing the food sensor on cookware

Place the food sensor on the rim of the cookware using the “hook” on the lower part of the black handle. To ensure optimal connection between the hob and the sensor, place the sensor close to the centre of the hob. If you’re cooking on the left side of the hob, place the sensor at a 1-3 o'clock position. If you’re cooking on the right side of the hob – place the sensor at a 9-11 o'clock position. 

Checking the connection of the food sensor

On the hob display, these indicators show the strength of the connection between the hob and the food sensor:  

If the hob can’t connect with the food sensor, this indicator will show. Move the food sensor along the rim of the cookware to establish or strengthen the connection. The hob refreshes every 3 seconds to find a connection.

How to use the cooking functions

Select ready-made recipes and follow the step-by-step instructions for steak, lamb fillet or salmon. You can also use cooking functions such as Sous Vide, Pan Fry, Thermometer, and Melting.

Press  to access the menu. To navigate the menu, use the arrows < or >.

 

Pan Fry 

Fry with automatically controlled heat levels adapted to the food you’re cooking. Recommended to avoid overheating of food or oil.  

How to use it

1. Enter the Menu and select Assisted Cooking > Functions > Pan Fry.   
2. Follow the instructions on your hob.

Good to know

  • Start the function when the hob is cold. 
  • Do not use cookware with an embossment in the centre of the bottom. 
  • Turn the food over when it reaches half the desired temperature. Always remove the food sensor before turning the food over.
Sous Vide
Cook vacuum-packed food at a low temperature to preserve vitamins and retain flavour. The food sensor controls and maintains the temperature. Recommended for a variety of dishes such as curry or bouillabaisse. 

How to use it
1. Place the food sensor on the rim of the pot.
2. Enter the Menu and select Assisted Cooking > Hob Functions > Sous Vide.  
3. Choose among the predefined food types, or manually set the temperature and cooking time. 
4. Follow the instructions on your hob. 

Good to know  
  • The function can only be activated for the left front or left rear cooking zone. 
  • The food sensor perfectly controls and maintains the temperature with an accuracy of + / - 1 °C. 
Melting

Melt food products. Recommended for melting chocolate or butter.  

How to use it

1. Enter the Menu and select Functions > Melting.
2. Follow the instructions on your hob. 

Good to know

  • There is no need to use the food sensor for this function.
  • This function can be used with one cooking zone at a time. 
Thermometer Monitor the temperature of food or liquid. Recommended when heating milk or checking the temperature of baby food. 

How to use it
 1. Insert the food sensor into the food or liquid.
2. Press on the display and choose Functions > Food Sensor Shortcuts > Thermometer
3. Press Start

To stop the function pressand select Stop.

Good to know
  • Pop-up windows and sounds inform you when the pre-defined temperature is reached.
  • You can use the function for all cooking zones but only for one cooking zone at a time.
  • You can’t use it when the Assisted Cooking function is in operation.
