Issue
- The electric hob displays error messages E6 or E641
Applies to
- integrated electric hob
- freestanding cooker with electric hob
Resolution
If you see E and a number come on - You can first try to deactivate and reactivate the hob. This usually has something to do with insufficient power. (see hints & tips below for more info)
Touch the power button for 1 second to activate or deactivate the hob.
POWER BUTTON
* If it comes on again, disconnect the hob from the electrical supply. After 30 seconds, connect the hob again. If the problem continues, speak to an Authorised Service Centre.
For built-in appliances - there is no need to physically disconnect the power cable. Reset the appliance by disconnecting the power supply in the fuse box for at least 30 seconds.
If you cannot find a solution to the problem yourself, contact your dealer or an Authorised Service Centre. Give the data from the rating plate. Give also a three-digit letter code for the glass ceramic (it is in the corner of the glass surface) and an error message that comes on. Make sure, you operated the hob correctly. If not the servicing by a service technician or dealer will not be free of charge, also during the warranty period. The instructions about the Service Centre and conditions of the guarantee are in the guarantee booklet.
A lot of these codes arise on new appliances if the installation was incorrect. For example, if you purchase an Induction Hob, these usually require 16 amp installation. Most homes & normal plugs are 13 amps. This means it would require an electrician to come and hardwire the wattage into the mains ready for your new hob. If you installed a 16 amp Hob into a 13 amp socket you may see these error codes, among some other reasons - this is just one example. in order to properly understand the problem, someone would need to either come out or diagnose over the phone, depending on the code you give them.
Please ensure everything is ready to be installed correctly at the time the appliance arrives if faults arise due to the wrong installation this may not be covered under the warranty.
If the above advice does not resolve the problem, we recommend requesting a visit by a service engineer.
Cause
- Error message E6 or E641 indicates the appliance is connected to one phase only.
